for Chicago Head and Neck Pain Caused by TMJ.
I went to see Dr. Goldman starting in 2012 for my TMJ. My dentist suggested I see him. He and his staff have always been nice, courteous, and welcoming. Diana, and Griselle are the best.
Anyway, my TMJ was so bad, I had no idea that much of the shoulder pain I was having was actually from my jaw. Dr. Goldman explained what was happening inside my mouth & the connection to the pain in my shoulder, neck, and headaches I thought were sinus issues, but instead that were from my jaw clinching.
He fitted my for an orthotic mouth guard, and said if I didn't feel relief soon, we would try other methods. He let me know it's a process that can take up to a year to correct.
The process included weekly visits to adjust the guard forcing my teeth, and muscles in the right direction, injections into my jaw muscles to force relaxation, and electrod stimulating muscle relaxing. I had relief immediately.
I won't say I was cured, but I started being able to sleep at night better than I had in years. My TMJ was from a car accident from 1995. So after many years of pain and non-treatment to mistreatment I felt relief.
This is a pricey process, so it took me longer than the straight year as I did not go weekly like I should have attempting to save some money. Some insurances cover TMJ, mine only covered some of the costs. It was well worth the investment.
I stopped wearing my mouth guard 18 months later and completed the process approximately a year ago. From start till now I am 98% better than when I first walked into his office. The other 2% has to do with the rest of the injury sustained in the car accident.
If you are suffering from TMJ, I highly recommend Head and Neck Pain Center for relief. The benefits definitely outweigh the overall cost, and you're healthy mouth is worth the investment.

I've suffered from TMJ all my life.
The daily headaches and tension / pain were such a struggle as I sat at my computer for work. And, as a classically trained opera singer, the pain was amplified even more.
But now after treatments with Dr. Goldman, the headaches and tension/pain are gone. I can't believe how much better I feel. Thank you, thank you!

I'm not a review writer but had to share my experience with others. Before I found Dr. Goldman, I was dealing with terrible headaches which lasted for days and caused me so much pain, not to mention nausea.
I went to my doctor to get checked out and he could find nothing wrong. So I continued to deal with the pain. As time went on, I paid attention to the source of the pain and triggers. I noticed it was focused in what felt like my teeth!
My wisdom teeth were out so it wasn't that. I went to my dentist who did a quick TMJ evaluation. Sure enough, he said I was having TMJ issues but offered no help. After doing my research on TMJ, it all made sense and clicked! That's when I found Dr. Goldman.
When I went to see Dr. Goldman for my initial visit, I felt there was light at the end of the tunnel. I started feeling results about a month after treatment and things continued getting better! I was impressed and so grateful! I could FINALLY function and have a normal life. Even my dentist (who was very skeptical) was greatly impressed with my bite.
I'm not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about. If you do your research (as you should before committing to any kind of treatments with any doctor) and understand even the basics of the muscular-skeletal system, you'll see this a very conservative approach to TMJ treatment, makes total sense and is one of the best options available.
Results take time and do not happen overnight. Overall, this is the best thing I could have done for myself! I feel great and love being able to function! Thank you Dr. Goldman and staff!

For a month straight, I was experiencing a sort of pain in my head so sharp and intense that I was completely debilitated and miserable. I saw my Doctor, who sent me to a neurologist who sent me to Dr. Goldman.
Long story short, through a series of treatments and following all of his recommendations I am now living pain free.
I experienced some relief after the first treatment and the pain continued to lessen with subsequent treatments. I also had the opportunity to meet many other patients who were experiencing similar positive results with Dr. Goldman.
Only someone who has experienced all encompassing head pain can know the way it totally takes you out of life. I am not religious but do feel like Dr. Goldman is my savior. I will be forever grateful for his incredible knowledge, skill, kindness and care. He gave me my life back!

As you can see, I don't write many reviews, but Dr. Goldman is amazing. For 6 months I had horrible pain that I thought was radiating from my glands.
I went to several doctors/specialists and no one could figure out what the problem was. As all this was going on, I was doing my own research and found the Head and Neck Center website.
After all my other doctor visits I was skeptical. However, I went in for my first appointment and they evaluated me and did x-rays. It turned out all the pain I was suffering from was TMJ.
NO ONE could tell me this and I had been to multiple doctors and spent a lot of money. I was relieved. Dr. Goldman molded my mouth for a retainer and I went in for short weekly treatments and adjustments.
Within weeks, I noticed the radiating pain was much less. Within several months, it was gone. I researched other treatments for TMJ and know they tend not to work.
This treatment is very different and I told Dr. Goldman he really needs to share his technique with other doctos so people in pain could get the same relief as I did.
Too, going in each week was a pleasure as his entire staff is so friendly and accommodating as is Dr. Goldman. I highly recommend Dr. Goldman if you suffer from TMJ. You will not regret it.

I had been suffering with TMJ syndrome for the last 8 years I had been to several different doctors and dentist, who could not diagnose me properly and had been prescribing me several different medications.
After not being able to tolerate the pain, I got on line and found The Head and Neck Pain Center. I called and scheduled an appointment. The Office manager was very informative and understanding of my condition.
When I went in for my consultation the office staff was very prompt and attentive. Dr. Goldman asked me questions and got to know my case unlike any doctor ever had, which made me more comfortable.
He knew all the symptoms I was experiencing with out me having to tell him, and he was familiar with what I was experiencing. When he examined me he was able to trigger where the pain was actually coming from.
I decided to go ahead with the treatment plan suggested, they even gave me a 4 week probational period if I was not responding to treatment they would reimburse me a partial amount of the treatment which I thought was a good deal and also unheard of.
Once I began treatment I noticed immediate changes of symptoms. These changes continued week by week until I felt 100 % better. I could not thank Dr. Goldman and his staff enough for the relief and continuance of life they have provided for me.
I have now been done with treatment for 2 years and I still feel great I recommend this treatment for anyone who has had no success with treatments for headaches neck jaw and back pain. Dr Goldman is a Doctor that knows exactly how to treat TMJ, and will provide the best of care.

I have had chronic daily headaches/migraines for just over 10 years now. During this time I have been seen and treated by numerous physicians, neurologists, chiropractors, and dentists.
I have tried several different types of therapies: physical, massage, craniosacral, acupuncture, and acupressure. I have also taken countless medications (the side effects of a few even landed me in the emergency room on a few occasions).
None of these things have helped me nearly as much as the treatment that Dr. Goldman has been providing for me. I can't speak more highly of him or his staff. He had paid more attention to my pain than any other physician I have ever seen. He also treats me like a person rather than a file number.

I can't recommend Dr. Goldman Highly enough. He literally saved my life.
I had suffered with severe headaches for about 10 years which totally ruled my life. I had seen general doctors, ENTs, neurologists and chiropractors. I even went to Mayos.
The general feeling was that I was suffering with migraine headaches of some sort and was given heavy meds which had no effect other than to put me in LaLa land. I even had treatment by my dentist and two other TMJ specialists all to no avail.
Surgery was suggested which I decided not to do. Several of the doctors also suggested that I see a therapist to try to deal with the pain and to try to find out why I was using the pain to control those around me.
I think that I went to Dr. Goldman after reading his book and having the feeling that he knew me and what I was going through. I also was desperate and depressed.
I was told, by his secretary, that the examination would be lengthly. He spent a total of about three hours with me talking about my problem, examining me and discussing treatment and the fees involved. I was a little shocked, but pleased at the amount of time that he personally spent with me.
I am so glad that I decided to have him treat me, despite the skepticism that I had because of what I had been through. My life was really hopeless before he stepped in and now I lead a normal life.
Even though insurance paid me back for only a portion of the total fees, I feel that what I paid to Dr. Goldman was one of the best investments that I have ever made.
